The lake, which was opened to the sea on Friday 10th August, closed overnight (August 14th) due to strong southerly swells. Health warning lifted for Te Waihora

The Community and Public Health division of the Canterbury District Health Board has lifted the health warning issued in January for Te Waihora/ Lake Ellesmere.
