The average level of Lake Ellesmere/Te Waihora as recorded Friday 3 September was 0.56 metres. The Lake is Open to the sea. The cut is still approximately 40-50m wide and the lake is effectively tidal. Monitoring of the situation will continue. Source: Environment Canterbury
