The 2009 WET Annual General Meeting will be held at the Hayward Room, John Burton Building, Lincoln University, on Monday, 21 September 2009, at 7pm. This meeting is open to all members of the Trust. All those interested in joining WET are also welcome. Inquiries, please email: manager@wet.org.nz

WET had a strong presence at the Ellesmere Show with a large marquee full of visual presentations of Trust activities and information. Over 60 volunteers participated in planting native shrubs and trees at Chamberlains Ford, including school kids of all ages, backpackers, local and Christchurch residents. Green footprint is a joint project between WET, YHA, Selwyn District Council and Landcare Research; which aims to restore native biodiversity and lower the impact of travellers on the environment.

Between August and September 2008 WET hosted 10 overseas university students who spent 2 weeks planting and clearing sites around the Lake under the supervision of Deputy Chairperson Stephen Brailsford, along with field personnel from DoC and ECan. A well-attended seminar featuring MP Mertiria Turei highlighting Eels and Sustainability, in a national and local context. The evening incuded presentations by three speakers and a screening of the film - 'Longfin", followed by supper and a discussion.

Over 1000 plants were successfully planted in this wetland we are restoring at Sedgemere, in partnership with local landowners. This will be followed by planting in the Spring (October). Details will be announced.
