A 50km round trip from Wairewa Marae, Little River and back exploring the environmental restoration activities underway for Lake Wairewa, Birdlings Flat and Kaituna Lagoon.
OPTIONS:
Potluck meal and overnight stay at Wairewa Marae on the Friday evening. Begin the cycle journey from Little River on the Saturday morning OR join the group Saturday morning at Birdlings Flat for a shorter ride of 20km return.
On the journey we will hear from speakers about the cultural significance of the lakes, the birds found there and the conservation efforts by the Department of Conservation at Birdlings Flat.
COST:
$30/person if staying overnight at Marae (children under 16 free). Day trip option koha.
