What: Film making workshop with Inspiring Stories Trust
When: Saturday June 15, 9am – 4pm
Where: Lincoln Event Centre, Meijer Drive
Who: For anyone aged 14 – 25 years with an interest in or connection with the lake
Cost: $10

The workshop is an initiative of Inspiring Stories Trust – a charitable trust based in Wellington. Each year the Trust takes some of New Zealand’s best award-winning young filmmakers on the road to share skills with the next generation. Each workshop helps young people develop skills and confidence in story, camera, editing and creative process. Workshops support participants to explore 21st century issues affecting their future (social, environmental, economic etc), brainstorm solutions and connect with local people making a difference. In 2012, more than 300 young people took part in workshops nationwide, several of whom went on to enter the Inspiring Stories Film Competition and win awards, internships and exposure for their work.
Te Waihora is very special place – amazing birdlife, abundant fisheries, and lots of opportunities for recreation or quiet contemplation. The lake means many things to many people, and there are many challenges with recent decades seeing declining water quality and loss of habitat.
Do you have a story to tell, or do you know someone who has? We’re looking for short videos we can present as part of the next Living Lake Symposium in November. This is a chance to speak directly to the people who make the decisions about how the lake is managed for future generations and this workshop can help you find the best way to get your message across.
