The Canterbury Water Management Strategy is being implemented across the region and a committee was established last year to tackle the issues in the Selwyn-Waihora area. See below for details of a couple of public meetings coming up soon.

The Selwyn-Waihora Zone Committee has organised two public meetings to give an update and allow community members to ask questions and provide feedback on the draft priorities for water management.

The zone committee has met seven times since its formation in October 2010 and has received numerous briefings on water issues relevant to the region. At its May meeting the committee allocated $100,000 in funding to seven biodiversity projects in the region.

The zone committee is a joint committee of Selwyn District Council, Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury and is working collaboratively to address water issues in line with the Canterbury Water Management Strategy.
