The restoration of Tai Tapu Bush on the banks of the Huritini/Halswell River is a fantastic community project. The local reserve committee with Whakaora Te Waihora (joint Ngai Tahu and Environment Canterbury restoration project) and help from WET and TAK are undertaking an ambitious restoration project, planting an area of around 1 hectare with over 5000 natives. This will create a series of plant communities which will enhance the area, return biodiversity and cultural values as well as being a site for education and recreation.

There are no costs to volunteers and a free BBQ lunch will be provided. If you dont have your own transport, contact us as we can help with that. The project is being funded by the Rhodes Reserve Committee, Whakaora Te Waihora and other partners.
Volunteers need to wear suitable outdoor clothing. We will provide spades and cotton gloves. We will also provide a free BBQ lunch and have water available all day.
This project is weather dependent. In the case of bad weather, the event will be postponed for one week. If you register you will be emailed if the event is postponed, but you can also listen to Newstalk ZB (1098AM, 100.1FM).
